Strictly Come Dancing has recently been shrouded in controversy, after several former celebrity contestants complained about their time on the Latin and ballroom show.

However, not only is the 22nd series set to begin next month after the BBC recently confirmed a star-studded cast of 15 celebrities, there looks to be light at the end of the dancefloor after Strictly received three National Television Awards nominations.

Betting sites have been a flurry of activity after the NTAs 2024 shortlist was announced, which includes a Strictly nod in the Talent Show category.

Strictly Faces Stiff Competition

A nomination is one thing but beating off competition from The Great British Bake Off, Britain’s Got Talent, MasterChef and The Voice UK will be a tougher feat for the popular BBC dance show.

While Strictly being in its 20th year is a cause for celebration, there has been a cloud hanging over the programme of late, which led to BBC director general Tim Davie apologising to anyone who has had an experience on Strictly that "hasn't been wholly positive".

It comes after pro dancers Graziano Di Prima and Giovanni Pernice both departed the series following allegations about their behaviour in training.

Pernice has denied "any accusations of abusive or threatening behaviour", while Di Prima was axed amid reports of alleged misconduct relating to how he treated his 2023 dance partner Zara McDermott.

But in the NTAs shortlist, Strictly received a Talent Show nod, judge Anton Du Beke is up for the Expert prize and presenter Claudia Winkleman has a nod in the TV Presenter category.

The Talent Show vote looks set to go down to the wire, with The Great British Bake Off narrow 13/8 favourites on National Television Awards betting sites to scoop the gong, followed by BGT (2/1).

Strictly isn't far behind at 5/2 and it would be a huge result for the show if it were to land the prize.

However, following the recent controversy there has been calls by some for the series to end.

It is 8/13 to do so after this year's upcoming 22nd season, while it's a big 6/1 that it makes it to 2027 or beyond.

Another show that recently made some headlines is This Morning.

Last year, the brunchtime programme saw longtime co-hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby depart, with the former exiting ITV altogether after he admitted to lying about an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague.

However, This Morning has a nod in the Daytime category at the upcoming National Television Awards, which will be hosted by Joel Dommett at London's The O2 on September 11.

Last year, This Morning lost out to The Repair Shop, which is 7/4 favourite on betting apps to repeat the feat and win the Daytime accolade for a second time in a row, while The Chase is 2/1 second favourite, followed by This Morning at 3/1

Baby Reindeer Vs Mr Bates

One of the most talked about TV shows of 2024 is without a doubt Netflix's Baby Reindeer. The seven-part series is an account of comedian Richard Gadd's experience with an alleged stalker, who is known as Martha in the show.

However, that has also been steeped in controversy of late after Scottish lawyer Fiona Harvey sued the streaming giant for how she is allegedly portrayed in the programme.

Despite this, Baby Reindeer is up for the New Drama award at this year's NTAs and it is 6/4 favourite on specials betting sites ahead of Mr Bates vs The Post Office (2/1).

Mr Bates vs The Post Office told the extraordinary true story of the British Post Office scandal, in which hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses were wrongly accused of theft, fraud and false accounting due to a defective IT system.

The impact of the four-part series was incredible and led to King Charles revoking former Post Office CEO Paula Vennells' CBE, after 1.2 million signed a petition calling for it to be withdrawn.

If the show is even slightly as impactful at the NTAs then it has a huge chance of scooping the New Drama prize.

However, two other Netflix shows, the Michelle Keegan-led Fool Me Once (3/1) and One Day (5/1) are also standing in its way, as is ITV's Red Eye (8/1).

Baby Reindeer will also take on Mr Bates vs The Post Office in the Drama Performance category.

Mr Bates star Toby Jones is the 8/11 favourite to triumph, followed by Baby Reindeer's Jessica Gunning (Evens), who portrays Martha, but Gadd and Mr Bates' Monica Dolan were both shock snubs in the shortlist.

However, there was no shortlist place for The Reckoning in the New Drama category, nor main star Steve Coogan - who played evil Jimmy Savile in the show - in the Drama Performance category.

Ant And Dec To Win Again?

Elsewhere, Ant and Dec have been nominated for the TV Presenter award and if they are victorious it will be their 23rd triumph in a row in the category.

The pair are 1/5 to do so, but both Love Island host Maya Jama and former This Morning presenter Holly missed out on shortlist nominations, as did current main This Morning presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

Kate Garraway: Derek’s Story is the short-priced 1/2 favourite to clinch the Authored Documentary accolade, followed by David and Victoria Beckham's film Beckham (2/1).

David's former England team-mate Wayne Rooney was used to scoring braces in his football career, but he received an unwanted pair when the NTAs shortlist was announced.
