The heat in the Celebrity MasterChef kitchen was cranked up another notch last week when two more stars confirmed their places in the semi-finals, which will kick off this week.

It's tight at the top of the market on betting sites, but one household name no longer in contention to win the coveted Celebrity MasterChef trophy is Diane Carson.

The Traitors star exited the kitchen first last week, followed by TV presenter OJ Borg, who admitted he was "sad" his journey had come to an end.

That left Glow Up judge Dominic Skinner, singer Mutya Buena and Strictly Come Dancing star Vito Coppola to battle it out for two semi-final places.

As well as having to impress show judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace, the trio had to cook for former Celebrity MasterChef stars Lisa Faulkner, Mica Ven and Danny Jones.

Vito Races Into Semis

Ballroom dancer Vito was the first to progress to the semi-finals, and he is now just 15/8 third favourite on Celebrity MasterChef betting sites to win the whole thing.

Ahead of the quarter-final clash, John said Vito had made one of the best tiramisu's he had ever eaten earlier in the week, so there were high hopes for the Italian professional dancer.

And he didn't disappoint.

John said he would pay money for Vito's lemon chicken in a restaurant, and described it as a "perfect plate of food".

Gregg also admitted it was "superb", and afterwards John praised Vito's "very clever" lemon cream and biscuit crumb dessert.

The two judges agreed Vito had to go straight through to the semis ahead of Dominic and Mutya, and he looks to be a strong contender to win the series.

'Brave' Dominic Progresses

After much deliberation, John and Gregg put Dominic through to the semi-finals, meaning Mutya's competition had ended.

Dominic injected some colour into the quarter-final with his pink prawn toast, for which he included dragon fruit to make it look pinker.

While the dining room judges - Mica, Lisa and Danny - couldn't taste any prawns, Lisa's husband John liked it and thought it was a "really brave" effort.

But Gregg paid Dominic the ultimate compliment by finishing the dish.

For his main, Dominic continued to add a splash of colour by serving up bang bang chicken with blue basmati rice.

John praised his "really good" Korean-style fried chicken, but he didn't like the lack of seasoning in the rice, admitting it was a "real shame".

Elsewhere, John and Gregg enjoyed the taste of Mutya's garlic prawns, but Gregg admitted it needed "something else".

She dropped a bit of her barbecue salmon while plating up her main, but it was well rescued.

However, the judges weren't overly impressed with the dish.

John insisted the salmon was overcooked and it needed more sauce, while Gregg didn't see the point of the salad, and upon her exit Mutya admitted she had enjoyed "such an amazing experience".

Despite progressing, Dominic is propping up the market on betting apps at 5/1.

Rochenda On Top

At the other end of the market, Line of Duty actress Rochenda Sandall is the 6/4 favourite on new betting sites, followed by This Morning presenter Craig Doyle (7/4).

This week, the eight remaining stars will compete for places in Finals Week.

Vito is third favourite to win the Celebrity MasterChef trophy after his impressive cookery last week, but the market's top trio will face stiff competition from the likes of Steps singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins (2/1), The Business actor Tamer Hassan (5/2), Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey (11/4), singer and actor Jake Quickenden, who is 3/1, and Dominic (5/1).
