Premier League Predictions Gameweek 4 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 204 appearances in all competitions and scored 126 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel this Premier League season 2024/25 and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best football betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye each week to see how Brian and The Panel get on this season.

Southampton Vs Man Utd, Saturday 12.30pm

Southampton and Manchester United will face off in the first Premier League match following the international break with UK betting sites making the Red Devils Evens favourites to take the points.

United head to the south coast for the Saturday lunchtime clash, with pressure building on Erik ten Hag after two losses in their opening three games of the season, including a 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool last time out.

Southampton have endured a tough return to the Premier League, having lost all three of their matches since being promoted and will be desperate to get their first victory of the season.

Brian says: “Nearly all of the goals that United have conceded so far this season have come from mistakes and if they can cut those out, they should win the game.

“Southampton have lost all three of the fixtures and United like going to St Mary's.

“In their last 12 trips there, they have won seven and drawn five and I can see United extending that unbeaten record on Saturday lunchtime.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 1: Southampton 1-2 Man Utd - 7/1 With Betfred

Aston Villa Vs Everton, Saturday 5.30pm

Two teams in contrasting form meet on Saturday evening as winless Everton travel to an Aston Villa side who have enjoyed a solid start to the season.

It's now no victory in four for Sean Dyche's side who were beaten 3-2 at home by Bournemouth in their last game having been 2-0 up with four minutes remaining.

After a 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, Aston Villa bounced back in style by defeating Leicester City before the international break to sit in seventh place of the Premier League after three games.

Brian says: "Everton have lost eight out of their last 10 games following an international break on the back of a game that they lost having been 2-0 up with four minutes to go at home to Bournemouth.

"Aston Villa are unbeaten in the last 10 games versus Everton, having won seven and drawn three.

"I don't think there'll be any change to that on Saturday and I'm going for a home win."

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 2: Aston Villa 2-0 Everton - 13/2 With Coral

Tottenham Vs Arsenal, Sunday, 2pm

Tottenham host Arsenal in the first north London derby of the season.

Ange Postecoglou’s side has been inconsistent, dropping points at Leicester and Newcastle despite dominating play, though they did thrash a struggling Everton side and a positive result in the derby could reignite their season.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain unbeaten but were disappointed by a 1-1 draw with Brighton before the break and with Manchester City setting a high standard in the title race, any dropped points could be costly for the Gunners.

Brian says: “The North London Derby has been one of the highest scoring fixtures in the Premier League.

“Spurs have got a number of key players returning to the side, while Arsenal will be missing almost their entire midfield with Martin Odegaard injured and Declan Rice suspended.

“Arsenal won this fixture 2-0 last season, but I’m going for a reversal in fortunes on Sunday.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 3: Tottenham 2-1 Arsenal - 9/1 with William Hill
