Gavin And Stacey Finale: James Blunt And Harry Styles In Contention For Shock Cameos
Gavin & Stacey super-fans have barely been able to contain their excitement since James Corden and Ruth Jones confirmed in May that the show is to return for one final episode.
And unlike the Oasis reunion, at least everybody will be able to watch this moment in history.
On Christmas Day, the last-ever Gavin & Stacey episode will air, and never mind whether the chicken or the egg came first - what we all want to know is whether Smithy accepts Nessa's proposal.
Gavin & Stacey returned for the first time in nearly 10 years in 2019, and the record-breaking episode became the most-viewed non-sporting event in a decade.
It was almost the most-watched comedy in 17 years after 18.49 million viewers tuned in to see Jones' character Nessa pop the question to Corden's alter-ego Smithy.
Filming for the finale began on September 2, and several stars are fancied on betting sites for a potential cameo.

Uncle Bryn's Christmas wish list no doubt includes tickets to James Blunt's Back to Bedlam anniversary tour next year - but the Rob Brydon-played fictional character could go one step further and meet his idol.
It is just 4/9 on specials betting sites that the You're Beautiful singer makes a cameo in the last-ever Gavin & Stacey episode, but it would be a classic Uncle Bryn moment if he bumped into Blunt and was none the wiser who the singer was.
One way Blunt could appear in the festive special is as a wedding singer, if Nessa and Smithy do get hitched.
Two celebrities who have already appeared in a Gavin & Stacey wedding episode are former Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott and Hear'Say singer Noel Sullivan.
They both appeared in Nessa and Dave Coaches' wedding episode in the series three finale.
Nessa has claimed to have previously been in a relationship with John, who is 1/2 to make a return to the series, while the Noel in Nessa and Smithy's son Neil Noel Edmond Smith's middle name is after her pop star pal, rather than ex-Deal or No Deal presenter Noel Edmonds.
Noel is also 1/2 to make a return for the finale, while fellow pop star Harry Styles is just 2/1.
Corden is good friends with the One Direction star, so it would make sense for him to be Nessa and Smithy's wedding singer if Blunt doesn't land the job.

Back In Barry
As well as the likes of Gavin (Mathew Horne), Stacey (Joanna Page), Nessa, Smithy and Uncle Bryn, all the Gavin & Stacey regulars are expected to return for the finale.
This includes the likes of Gavin's parents Mick and Pam Shipman (Larry Lamb and Alison Steadman), Stacey's mum Gwen West (Melanie Walters), and Nessa's ex Dave Coaches (Steffan Rhodri).
It's not yet been confirmed whether Stacey's brother Jason West, who is portrayed by Robert Wilfort, will be back in Barry for the festive episode.

It's just 1/2 that Jason does return for the festivities, while Gavin & Stacey isn't complete without argumentative couple Dawn and Pete Sutcliffe, who are perfectly played by legendary actors Julia Davis and Adrian Scarborough.
The pair are Evens on betting apps to make a last-ever Gavin & Stacey appearance, and it's 2/1 that Smithy's sister Rudi Smith - who was played by Sheridan Smith - stars one final time.
It is 5/2 for Smithy's mum Cath Smith, portrayed by British national treasure Pam Ferris, to feature in the finale, and 3/1 that any of Gav's stag do party pals - who include Russell Tovey's character Budgie - rock up for another potential nuptials.
Say Yes To The Ness
A wedding could well play a huge part in the last-ever episode - but Smithy needs to say yes first.
He is 1/4 to accept Nessa's proposal, but it would be classic Gavin & Stacey for the character to reject her.
While that question is one fans have waited five years for, another situation die-hard viewers are desperate to find out about is: What happened on the fishing trip?
If Jason does make a comeback then fans might finally be able to hear about what happened on Bryn and his nephew Jason's controversial jaunt.

It has been an ongoing joke throughout the series that what happened on said trip shouldn't be discussed - and fans are still in the dark about it.
Co-writers Corden and Jones have even previously said they aren't sure what happened on the fictional excursion, but with the finale looming it is 6/4 we find out, and 4/6 it remains a secret forever.
Whatever happens in the finale, it is sure to go down in British TV history.
