Euro 2024 Best Overdue Bets: Can England Win All 3 Group Games?

Euro 2024 got under way in Germany on Friday where 24 teams hope to be crowned champions of Europe in Berlin on Sunday, July 14.

The UK betting sites have England and France as favourites to lift the Henri Delaunay Trophy in Berlin on Sunday, July 14.

With the tournament up and running, Gambling.com have studied the history books to find bets that are due to land at Euro 2024.

England To Win All Three Group Games

This will be England's 11th appearance at a European Championship and their 27th major tournament in total.

Victory in the 1966 World Cup remains their only success, but can the Three Lions end 58 years of hurt on German soil?

In 1966, England opened with a goalless draw against Uruguay before winning their other group games against Mexico (2-0) and France (2-0).

England have only won all three group games only once in their history at major tournaments, doing so in Spain 1982.

A Bryan Robson goal after just 27 seconds in a 3-1 win over France was the perfect start to their tournament, and further victories over Czechoslovakia (2-0) and Kuwait (1-0) raised expectations back home.

However, they failed to get out of the second group stage in that tournament following goalless draws with West Germany and hosts Spain.

For the fourth successive tournament, the Three Lions got off to a winning start thanks to a 1-0 win over Serbia.

Denmark are next up for Gareth Southgate's squad on Thursday, before England finish the group stage against Slovenia.

The Three Lions were 7/4 on betting apps to finish top of Group C with maximum points, but after beating Serbia, their odds are now 23/20.

Scotland To Finally Get Past Group Stage?

Scotland's start to Euro 2024 could not have got off to a worse start. Hosts Germany beat them 5-1 to set the tone for the opening games in the tournament.

Over 2.5 total goals was a winning bet in each of the first five games, which produced 19 goals.

The Scots have never got past the group stage in any of their 11 previous appearances at a major tournament, and they have a mountain to climb to avoid that becoming 12.

Four points in their remaining group games against Switzerland and Hungary might see the Scots through as one of the best third-placed teams.

Football betting sites are offering odds of 47/20 on Scotland reaching the Round of 16.

A First Hat-Trick Since 2008?

Hat-tricks are few and far between at the European Championships. Only seven players have managed to achieve that feat in the Euros, including French forward Michel Platini, who did it twice during the 1984 tournament on home soil.

David Villa is the last player to take home the match ball after scoring three times in a Euros game. The Spaniard did so in a 4-1 win over Russia in 2008 when Switzerland and Austria were joint-hosts.

Many players will have their sights set on winning the Golden Boot award in Germany and a hat-trick will certainly help.

Ukraine To Keep A Clean Sheet

Ukraine have reached the finals of the European Championship for the fourth successive tournament.

They failed to get out of their group in 2012 and 2016, but reached the quarter-finals three years ago, when they lost 4-0 to England at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

Amazingly, in their 12 matches played at the Euros, including their 3-0 defeat to Romania in their Euro 2024 opener, Ukraine have never kept a clean sheet. Can this be the tournament Ukraine finally stop an opponent from scoring?

Serhiy Rebrov will be confident after seeing his side keep clean sheets in two of their last three qualifiers against North Macedonia and Italy.

Will it be lucky 13 for Ukraine? Rebrov's side are 17/10 with BoyleSports to keep a clean sheet in their second game against Slovakia in Dusseldorf.
