Travelers Championship Betting Tips: 4 Predictions From The Panel

Travelers Championship Betting Predictions:

The eighth and final Signature Event of the season takes place this week when TPC River Highlands hosts the Travelers Championship without Rory McIlroy, who has withdrawn to recover from his US Open heartache.

Hideki Matsuyama gave us a nice 45/1 each-way pay-out in our outsiders’ preview, and the Japanese star and Tommy Fleetwood both delivered top-20 finishes in our best bets to give us a profit overall to level stakes over the four days at Pinehurst No.2.

Hopefully, the run continues this week as an elite field makes the trip to this par-70, parkland course in Cromwell, Connecticut, which measures just 6,841 yards and produces low scores.

Putting and Strokes Gained: Approach are likely to be key factors in determining the winner, and The Panel, comprising Gambling.com’s golf experts, have looked at some of the best betting sites to pick out three Travelers Championship betting tips.

Cantlay To Flow At River Highlands

Keegan Bradley is the defending champion, but as usual it’s Scottie Scheffler who dominates the betting and is the 15/4 favourite with betting apps despite a disappointing performance at the US Open where he finished outside the top 40 for the first time since October 2022.

The Panel are looking slightly further afield for the first of our Travelers Championship predictions and suspect Patrick Cantlay will keep the momentum going with another decent showing this week.

The American has not finished outside the top 15 in his six previous visits to River Highlands and 12 months ago produced his best performance here with fourth place.

Cantlay flew under the radar last week after missing the cut at The Memorial, but bounced back in style with third spot – his fifth top 10 at a major in six years.

Encouragingly, Cantlay was fourth for SG: Approach in North Carolina last week despite being 88th for that measure overall this season, although his putting continues to be a work in progress.

Cantlay may be without a PGA Tour title since winning the BMW Championship for a second time in August 2022, but he loves this course and has a great chance of ending his drought if the flat stick is hot.

With that in mind, Cantlay is the first of this week’s Travelers Championship predictions at 22/1.

Horses For Courses Leads To Harman

Americans have won 25 of the last 28 renewals of this tournaments, so it makes sense to have a couple on board.

Cantlay may have an excellent record at River Highlands, but he is comfortably trumped by Open champion Brian Harman.

The left-hander cannot compete with the bombers on the PGA Tour and every year savours his trip to this short course which suits his game perfectly.

Eighth or lower in five of his last six visits to River Highlands, Harman last year went closer than ever before to winning the event as a weekend pair of 64s ensured a runners-up spot with Zac Blair.

His recent performances have been solid rather than spectacular, but he finished just outside the top 20 at the US Open and at a course that could almost have been designed for him, we’re happy to take the 40/1 offered by golf betting sites.

Canadian Couple Can Compete

Our final selections are a couple of in-form Canadians, who both finished inside the top 20 at Pinehurst.

Corey Conners is as solid as a rock and has not missed the cut since last year’s US Open and he was ninth here 12 months ago.

Although putting has been his Achilles heel this year, only world number one Scottie Scheffler has better SG: Approach stats than Conners, so the signs point to another strong week.

BoyleSports do not offer the best price, but at eight places, The Panel are with Conners at 30/1 to land the third PGA Tour title of his career.

We have landed three successive successful top-20 tips in recent weeks and are going for a fourth with Taylor Pendrith, who also stands out at 110/1 with Bet365 in the outright market.

Pendrith missed the cut here last year, but his confidence remains high after posting his first PGA victory at the Byron Nelson in May.

The 33-year-old from Ontario is one of the best putters on tour and a top-20 finish does not look beyond him at 3/1 in this limited field.
