Premier League Predictions Gameweek 3 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 204 appearances in all competitions and scored 126 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel this Premier League season 2024/25 and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best football betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye each week to see how Brian and The Panel get on this season.

Leicester Vs Aston Villa, Saturday 3pm

Aston Villa make the short trip across the Midlands to Leicester on Saturday afternoon looking to get back to winning ways following their defeat to Arsenal in last weekend's Premier League game.

Unai Emery's side have three points from their opening two games after their opening day victory on the road against West Ham and are favourites to get the win here with UK betting sites.

Leicester have kicked off their return to the Premier League after finishing as title winners in the Championship last season with one point to their name, in a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Tottenham on the opening weekend.

Brian says: “Leicester have only managed one clean sheet in their last 25 games and I think that will become 26 on Saturday.

“Meanwhile, Aston Villa have won on two of their last three visits to Leicester, so I think there are good signs for them.

“They played well against Arsenal last week but didn’t take their chances and I’m going for another away win for Villa this season here.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 1: Leicester 0-3 Aston Villa - 12/1 With Betfred

West Ham Vs Man City, Saturday 5.30pm

West Ham host Manchester City in the last Saturday evening TV game before the international break.

Pep Guardiola’s side thrashed Ipswich 4-1 last time out despite falling behind and currently sit top of the table, albeit at this very early stage of the campaign, with twon wins from two games.

The Hammers have now recorded two consecutive wins under Julen Lopetegui, following up their 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend by beating Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night.

Brian says: “West Ham have not won any of their last 17 Premier League games against Manchester City and I can’t see that changing on Saturday evening.

“City have also scored more away goals against the Hammers than any other opponent and I’m very confident that that will increase at the London Stadium.

“They’re in good scoring form and I can see City getting plenty again.”

Man Utd Vs Liverpool, Sunday, 4pm

With just two Premier League games gone we are treated to one of the first real heavyweight clashes of the new season as Manchester United host Liverpool in this Super Sunday clash.

Arne Slot heads to Old Trafford with back-to-back 2-0 wins under his belt, ensuring a strong start to his tenure at Anfield, but a victory at the home of their fierce rivals could be a real statement of intent.

After their last-gasp loss to Brighton last weekend, United know that failing to secure a positive result here could dampen the early optimism surrounding the new season.

Brian Says: “It’s a big game for both teams, Liverpool have looked very impressive so far and have had more shots than any other team in the two games they’ve played.

“As for United, surely they can’t be as wasteful in front of goal as they were last week against Brighton.

“So this will be a big test for United’s defence because they face a Liverpool side in fine form who are playing so well so early on."

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 3: Man Utd 2-2 Liverpool - 11/1 with William Hill
