Premier League Predictions Gameweek 2 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 204 appearances in all competitions and scored 126 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel this Premier League season 2024/25 and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best football betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye each week to see how Brian and The Panel get on this season.

Brighton Vs Man Utd, Saturday 12:30pm

Erik ten Hag's Manchester United head to the Amex Stadium for a lunchtime kick-off this Saturday.

Despite their opening day win against Fulham, they arrive as underdogs according to the UK betting sites.

Joshua Zirkzee's late goal secured a crucial three points for the Red Devils, giving them the ideal start to their 2024-25 campaign. Meanwhile, Brighton impressed with a 3-0 victory over Everton at Goodison Park.

Brian says: “Nearly every away trip in the Premier League is tricky and that’s certainly been the case for United of late.

“Saying that, having lost four out of the last five against Brighton, United did manage to get a win at the Amex on the final day of last season.

“But I’m going for a score on Saturday of Brighton 2 Manchester United 2.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 1: Brighton 2 Manchester United 2 - 10/1 With Betfred

Aston Villa Vs Arsenal, Saturday 5.30pm

This is an exciting encounter between two of last season's top-four teams, both of whom secured victories in their opening matches last week.

Aston Villa kicked off their season with a 2-1 win at West Ham, while Arsenal defeated Wolves 2-0 at the Emirates.

The Gunners failed to register a goal in any of the two meetings last season, with Unai Emery's side essentially costing Arsenal the title. So will revenge be on the cards?

Brian says: “Both teams started well and impressed in their opening fixtures, particularly Villa winning away at West Ham.

“But if you look at the records, Arsenal have won 14 times at Villa Park in the Premier League.

“I’m expecting this to be tight and am going for a 1-1 draw on Saturday night.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 2: Aston Villa 1 Arsenal 1 - 6/1 With Coral

Liverpool Vs Brentford, Sunday, 4:30pm

Arne Slot's first Premier League home match as Liverpool manager is the late Super Sunday fixture, with Brentford visiting Anfield.

Liverpool were sensational in the second half against Ipswich last Saturday, netting two goals and generating enough chances to win four or five games.

Brentford began their season with a home victory against Crystal Palace, even without Ivan Toney, who is also expected to miss this week's match.

Brian Says: “Liverpool in the second half against Ipswich were exceptional, especially the front three of Salah, Diaz and Jota.

“The chances they created could have meant the scoreline was a lot more convincing than it eventually was.

“Brentford will again be without Ivan Toney, with speculation around his future, so I’m going for Liverpool 4 Brentford 0.”

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 3: Liverpool 4 Brentford 0 - 14/1 with William Hill
