Euro 2024 Predictions: The Panel's Best Bets & Tips For Tuesday’s Games

Tuesday’s Euro 2024 Betting Tips

Those sides in Group F at Euro 2024 have had to patiently wait to get their campaigns underway but finally make their tournament bows in Tuesday’s double-header.

The Panel are excited to get their first look at Portugal having backed them for European Championship glory as part of their Group F preview.

They are up against the Czech Republic in Leipzig, where, given its proximity to their home nation, there is likely to be a strong Czech presence.

That’s the late kick-off on Tuesday with Turkey’s clash against Georgia getting us up and running at 5pm.

What a moment it will be for Georgia when they step out in Dortmund for their first-ever game at a major tournament, albeit betting sites aren’t too high on their prospects of a win.

The Panel have picked out a best bet for each game on Tuesday with the double paying 3/1 with BetVictor.

Turkey vs Georgia Prediction

(5pm, BBC One)

The Panel are hopeful Georgia could spring a surprise or two at the Euros, but remain wary of backing them in games until we see how they perform on the big stage.

The same goes for favourites Turkey. Their Euro 2020 campaign couldn’t have gone any worse and they haven’t looked sharp in the build-up to this edition, failing to win any of their last five games.

The Turks are short on strikers for this Group F opener too with Baris Alper Yilmaz potentially their only fit centre-forward, although he will be supported by the talented Arda Guler and Kerem Akturkoglu.

Georgia’s defence looks to be the weakest part of Willy Sagnol’s side, although Turkey’s rearguard is far from watertight, shipping six goals recently to Austria.

Football betting sites make Turkey odds-on to record just their fifth win at a European Championship, but the match market may be best avoided given the unknowns regarding both sides.

The Panel feel happier looking at the card markets instead with these two sides first and third in our Euro 2024 dirtiest teams ranking.

Both sides collected 27 yellow cards in qualifying, albeit Turkey got to that tally in two fewer games, averaging 3.4 bookings per match.

Turkey’s final three games of qualifying, when tensions were running high, were particularly tempestuous and card-filled, with no fewer than eight cards shown in total.

In charge of this game is Argentinian official Facundo Tello, a referee who is known to be quick on the draw when it comes to cards.

He showed 5.61 cards per game in Argentina’s Primera Division last season and is off to a hot start this season with three of his four games ending with at least six yellows.

At the time of writing, there haven’t been more than four yellows shown in one game at the Euros, but all the ingredients seem right for this one to go over the 4.5-card threshold.

The Panel Tip: Over 4.5 Cards – 6/5 With BetVictor

Portugal Vs Czech Republic Prediction

(8pm, BBC One)

This is the fourth time these two nations have met at a European Championship finals with Portugal having edged two of the previous three encounters.

Portugal are expected to improve that head-to-head record with the Czechs 6/1 outsiders on betting apps to pull off the upset.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s men are 3/4 but don’t have a great record in the group stage of recent Euros, winning one of the last six games.

However, there aren’t many other reasons to doubt Portugal’s credentials to win this game after they cruised through qualifying, while they beat the Czech Republic comfortably in a pair of Nations League games in 2022.

The strength in depth of Roberto Martinez’s side is remarkable, particularly in the attacking areas, and it’s tough to see how this well-drilled but limited Czech side will hold out for 90 minutes.

Ivan Hasek’s men have been in decent form of late though and with so many Czechs expected in Leipzig, this will have the feel of a home game for the underdogs.

Czech Republic have enough about them to keep this competitive without posing Portugal too many issues and pairing the Portuguese with under 4.5 goals is The Panel’s preferred choice.
