Euro 2024 Group F Predictions: The Panel's Best Bets And Tips

Euro 2024 Group F Team Best Bets

Last but not least on The Panel’s list of Euro 2024 previews is Group F, which may well contain the eventual winners of the competition.

Portugal are favourites to win the group and have received plenty of support on football betting sites to go all the way, their odds having shrunk from 10/1 in May to a best price of 7/1.

The Panel are also sold on the chances of Cristiano Ronaldo and co repeating their 2016 triumph and they should kickstart their campaign with a series of routine group successes.

The battle to see who goes through with Portugal could be of greater interest with Turkey expected to fill second place.

The Czech Republic made the quarter-finals of the last Euros, though, and have a decent record in this competition, while Georgia, playing in their first major tournament, shouldn’t be written off.

Czech Republic

Manager: Ivan Hasek

Captain: Tomas Soucek

Euro 2024 Outright Odds: 150/1 – BetMGM

Czech Republic are playing in their eighth consecutive Euros and have qualified from the group stage four times in that run, including in 2020 when they snuck through as one of the best third-placed sides.

They would knock out the Netherlands in the last 16 before losing to Denmark in the quarters but will do well to get that far again.

Ivan Hasek is the man in the hot seat after replacing Jaroslav Silhavy as head coach last November. He inherits a team that finished runners-up to Albania in their qualifying group, playing a functional but uninspiring brand of football.

Goals are a major issue for the Czechs, who have been without Euro 2020 joint-topscorer Patrick Schick for the last two years due to injuries. He’s in the squad but if he can’t rediscover his scoring touch, they could have major problems.

Czech Republic pose a big threat from set pieces and skipper Tomas Soucek is worth considering as an anytime goalscorer option in their games, but The Panel have set their sights on the under when it comes to the Czech’s total goal line.

For a side that lacks creativity in what should be a competitive group, scoring more than four goals could prove tricky. History also points towards backing the under with the Czechs scoring four or less goals in three of the past four Euros.

The Panel Tip: Under 4.5 Czech Republic Goals – 4/6 With QuinnBet

Georgia

Manager: Willy Sagnol

Captain: Guram Kashia

Euro 2024 Outright Odds: 750/1 - BetVictor

Just getting to a first major tournament is a big achievement for Georgia, who are the lowest-ranked team competing at this summer’s Euros. But the Crusaders aren’t just here to make up the numbers.

They narrowly missed out on qualifying for Euro 2020 but got over the line this time around, beating Luxembourg and Greece in the play-offs, and there’s enough talent in the squad to suggest they should be competitive.

The obvious star of the show for Georgia is the fleet-footed No 10 Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, nicknamed Kvaradona by fans of his club side Napoli.

He was voted Serie A’s most valuable player in the 2022-23 season after helping Napoli claim the Scudetto and should prove a handful.

At the other end of the pitch is goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili, arguably the best shot stopper in La Liga last season with Valencia.

Protecting Mamardashvili is a fairly creaky defence that has been exposed at times, most notably when Georgia lost 7-1 to Spain in qualifying.

A potent Portugal side could pose problems, but they don’t face them until the final round of group games and could have enough points on the board by then to be in the mix for qualifying.

Three points has been enough to see sides through in third in the past and Georgia look capable of upsetting either Czech Republic or Turkey to give themselves a shot at reaching the last 16.

The Panel Tip: Georgia To Qualify For Last-16 – 15/8 With SpreadEx

Portugal

Manager: Roberto Martinez

Captain: Cristiano Ronaldo

Euro 2024 Outright Odds: 7/1 – Betfred

Ronaldo may remain the figurehead and talisman for Portugal entering his sixth European Championships, but there’s so much more to this team now than just international football’s all-time leading scorer.

Ronaldo scored 10 in qualifying and topped the Saudi Pro League charts with 35 goals this season. His record in Saudi Arabia can be taken with a big handful of salt, but there’s no doubting he’s still got it in front of goal.

Backing him up is arguably the strongest squad at Euro 2024 with head coach Roberto Martinez lucky enough to be fishing from a very deep Portuguese talent pool.

Bruno Fernandes, Bernando Silva, Joao Felix, Rafael Leao, Ruben Dias and Joao Cancelo. This list goes on and on of high-quality players, and the talent keeps coming with 19-year-old Joao Neves, who wasn’t born when Ronaldo scored his first Euros goal in 2004, a contender to be Young Player of the Tournament.

Portugal were the only team to win all 10 of their Euro qualifiers and Martinez has taken the shackles off in an attacking sense, resulting in them scoring 36 goals in qualifying.

The only knocks against Portugal are they haven’t proven themselves against a quality opponent under Martinez, while the Spaniard’s inability to get Belgium’s ‘Golden Generation’ to a final looms large over his coaching CV.

But of the top contenders in the outright market on betting apps, Portugal’s price appeals the most and The Panel like them to go all the way.

Turkey

Manager: Vincenzo Montella

Captain: Hakan Calhanoglu

Euro 2024 Outright Odds: 100/1 – Coral

Turkey were touted as dark horses going into Euro 2020. They ended up losing all three group games and scoring once as they crashed out spectacularly in the group stage.

Three years on and it’s the same story. The Panel aren’t sold on the chances of Vincenzo Montella’s men though, especially after a lacklustre build-up that included a 6-1 hammering by Austria.

They couldn’t cope with the high press of Austria that night and being exposed like that just before a major tournament is a concern.

But Montella has enough talent to orchestrate a better showing at these Euros than predecessor Senol Gunes managed three years ago, especially with skipper Hakan Calhanoglu at the peak of his powers.

They also have some exciting young talent in the squad in the likes of Arda Guler and Kenan Yildiz and have shown they can mix it with some of Europe’s top sides on their day, beating Germany and Croatia away from home under Montella.

One issue they do have is the lack of a striker. Enes Unal and Cengiz Under are out through injury, leaving the goal-shy Cenk Tosun to lead the line.

Turkey’s lack of a regular goalscorer opens up the team’s top scorer market on betting apps, where Kerem Akturkoglu looks overpriced at 11/1.

He netted twice in qualifying and is fresh off a good season with Galatasaray, notching 12 goals.

The 25-year-old averaged close to three shots per game for Gala and the tricky forward is an interesting runner in a wide-open race to be Turkey’s topscorer.

The Panel Tip: Kerem Akturkoglu Top Turkey Goalscorer – 11/1 With Bet365
