Euro 2024 Group A Teams Predictions: The Panel's Best Bets, Tips And Preview

Euro 2024 Group A Teams Predictions:

The hopes of an expectant host nation are pinned on Germany and manager Julian Nagelsmann at Euro 2024.

UK betting sites make Die Mannschaft third favourites to win the tournament behind England and France, but after a disappointing 2022 World Cup campaign, Nagelsmann and his team must remain focused on reaching the knockout stage at the least.

Qualification from Group A may seem straightforward with Switzerland, Hungary and Scotland present in the pool. All three of those sides harbour ambitions of their own at the Euros and will be determined to knock Germany off course.

The Panel have weighed up the best bets for each Group A team for Euro 2024 by looking at statistics, form and odds to make their predictions.

Euro 2024 Prediction: Germany To Fall Short Of Euro Glory

Germany

Manager: Julian Nagelsmann
Captain: Ilkay Gundogan
Euro 2024 Winner Odds: £10 Get £40 In Casino Bonuses" data-brand_id="924" data-brand_product_id="342" data-offer_id="949" data-site_offer_id="1215" data-gtm="pagetext Unibet" data-cta_hash="05eb7e82-a05f-454e-98bc-4a4261e801fe" >11/2 - Unibet

Best Bet: The Panel believe that Germany will put up a much better effort than their last three efforts at major tournaments, failing to progress from the Group Stage of the 2018 and 2022 World Cups along with being beaten by England in the round of 16 of Euro 2020.

Nagelsmann inherited the side from Hansi Flick, who became the first Germany manager to be sacked from the role after a dismal run of results. Their form has improved slightly, but these are not the German behemoths of old.

Die Mannschaft have lost their aura at major tournaments and need to regain it to challenge France, Spain and England.

Betting apps are optimistic that Germany will ease through the Group Stage, being backed at 2/5 to win Group A and 1/20 to qualify.

There’s little value in taking a bet on the host nation, so The Panel are looking elsewhere.

By winning Group A, Germany would be on a collision course with the runner-up from Group C, which includes England. Denmark are a likely opponent and if they emerge from that contest, while Spain could await in the quarter-finals.

Are Germany ready to take on and beat a Spain side that won the Nations League in 2023? Probably not. The Panel’s best bet for Germany is for the host nation to be knocked out in the last eight at odds of 11/4

Euro 2024 Group A Tips: Switzerland To Maintain Consistency

Switzerland

Manager: Murat Yakin
Captain: Granit Xhaka
Euro 2024 Winner Odds – 80/1 - BetMGM

Best Bet: Switzerland are the model of consistency in recent tournaments. They’ve reached the last 16 in their last three appearances at the World Cup, while they went as far as the quarter-finals in Euro 2020 before being knocked out by Spain.

There is a lot of experience in the ranks and that could prove to be crucial during the Group Stage, especially as Hungary and Scotland are not regular campaigners in major competitions.

This Switzerland team features many players that have operated at the highest levels of European football, notably the skipper Granit Xhaka, who enters the tournament off an outstanding campaign for Bayer Leverkusen.

There are no superstars in the squad as Xherdan Shaqiri, Yann Sommer and Xhaka are past the peaks of their career, while Breel Embolo has not developed into quite the player that his early potential promised.

But, The Panel expect Switzerland to outduel their rivals outside of Germany in Group A to book their place in the last 16. Odds of 5/4 are available on football betting sites for the Swiss to appear in the knockout stage by finishing in second in the group.

The Panel Tip: Switzerland Top Two Finish Group A – 5/4 William Hill

Euro 2024 Group A Betting: Hungary To Advance In Third

Hungary

Manager: Marco Rossi
Captain: Dominik Szoboszlai
Euro 2024 Winner Odds: 100% Welcome Bonus up to £50" data-brand_id="49" data-brand_product_id="209" data-offer_id="559" data-site_offer_id="515" data-gtm="pagetext 10bet" data-cta_hash="f2e320ea-510c-4c19-9f90-8f03c172955d" >150/1 - 10Bet

Best Bet: Hungary are ones to watch after easing through their qualifying group to book their place at the Euros.

It was only two years ago that Hungary stunned England 4-0 at Molineux before beating Germany in the Nations League. They were unbeaten in 14 matches ahead of the competition before losing to Ireland in a friendly.

However, there’s still a lot to like about Rossi’s side, who are led by Liverpool midfielder Szoboszlai. Hungary have a good blend of experience and rising talent that could make them a threat in a one-off match.

And although The Panel don’t believe they can dislodge Germany and Switzerland from the top two spots in Group A, the Magyars are more than capable of being one of the four third-placed teams to qualify for the round of 16.

The Panel like their odds of 4/5 with SpreadEx to advance to the knockout stage.

The Panel Tip: Hungary To Qualify Round Of 16 - 4/5 SpreadEx

Euro 2024 Group A Prediction: Scotland To Bring Up The Rear

Scotland

Manager: Steve Clarke
Captain: Andy Robertson
Euro 2024 Winner Odds: 125/1 - Betfred

Best Bet: Scotland stormed their way through qualifying by winning their opening five matches but have been struck down by injuries and a worrying lack of form entering the competition, including heavy defeats to England, France and Netherlands.

Clarke’s men secured a 2-0 win over Gibraltar in a warm-up match, but were far from convincing in the final third.

Scotland’s options across all areas of the pitch have been depleted due to injuries to Nathan Patterson, Aaron Hickey, Ben Doak and Lyndon Dykes, while Stuart Armstrong, Scott McTominay and John Souttar are all working their way back to fitness.

It’s been tough to prepare and the odds were stacked against Scotland anyway. The Panel are not overly optimistic about their fortunes, and are backing Clarke’s side to finish bottom of Group A at odds of 11/10

The Panel Tip: Scotland To Finish Bottom Group A – 11/10 BoyleSports
