Friday's Wimbledon Predictions: The Panel's Best Bets And Tips For Day 12

Wimbledon Day 12 Best Bets

We’ve reached the semi-final stage of the men’s draw at Wimbledon and four players will battle it out for a place in Sunday’s final at the All England Club.

Defending champion Carlos Alcaraz has had a few scares on his way to the last four, but is on course to reach the final for a second successive year.

However, he will face a reinvigorated Daniil Medvedev, who knocked out top seed Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals in an epic duel on Centre Court.

The other semi sees Novak Djokovic take on rising star Lorenzo Musetti. The seven-time champion looks back to his best form and UK betting sites make him as short as 1/7 to reach the final.

Musetti will not make life easy for him, but it would take a bold punter to bet against Djokovic given his record at the All England Club.

The Panel have run the rule over all four players and have made three betting predictions for the semi-finals.

Daniil Medvedev Vs Carlos Alcaraz Prediction

We have a rematch of the 2023 Wimbledon semi-final when the two players faced off on Centre Court. Alcaraz dominated on that occasion on his way to the title, sweeping the Russian in straight sets.

Medvedev did earn a semblance of revenge in the US Open with a straight-sets win in the last four before losing out to Djokovic in the final. Alcaraz has won their two meetings since, including a triumph in the final of Indian Wells.

All the signs point towards a win for the Spaniard and tennis betting sites make him the overwhelming favourite to progress to the final. However, he’s not been at the peak of his powers in the tournament.

Frances Tiafoe took him all the way to five sets, while Ugo Humbert put him under severe pressure in the fourth round. Medvedev should be up for the challenge even after his five-set duel with Sinner.

The men have never played a five-setter against each other, but The Panel have noted that Alcaraz has been a slow-starter that could allow Medvedev into the match early. Given Alcaraz’s issues, the value of 5/2 on over 4.5 sets at Unibet appeals for this contest.

Alcaraz To Make A Comeback?

Alcaraz has not been flawless at Wimbledon as the returning champion. He has been put under pressure by almost every opponent on his way to the last four.

The Spaniard played out first-set tie-breakers in the first two rounds before he lost the first set of his duel with Tiafoe. He returned to form against Humbert in the fourth round, but did lose the third set 6-1.

Tommy Paul then put him on the back foot by winning the first set in the quarter-finals. If Medvedev is on his mettle from the off, he could force Alcaraz into playing from behind again.

Odds of 7/4 are available for Medvedev to win the first set, but The Panel prefer the value for backing Alcaraz to win the match from behind at 10/3 on betting apps

The Panel Tip: Carlos Alcaraz To Win From Behind Vs Daniil Medvedev – 10/3 Bet365

Lorenzo Musetti Vs Novak Djokovic Prediction

Musetti has always had the potential to make a grand slam breakthrough, but he is now delivering on his promise. However, he faces the biggest challenge of his career against the seven-time champion, having only won one of their five meetings.

That doesn’t tell the entire story as he took two sets off Djokovic in their last clash at the French Open. He previously rocked the Serb at Roland Garros in 2021 by storming into a two-set lead before Djokovic responded to see off the threat.

The Italian should not be deterred by facing the 24-time grand slam winner. Having said that, Djokovic has only lost 11 games at the All England Club, boasting a win ratio of 89%.

The 37-year-old is also fresh after Alex De Minaur was forced to withdraw from their quarter-final contest. Djokovic is not the player he was at the peak of his powers, but The Panel are still confident that he will advance.

Expect Musetti to make a decent fist of the contest though with odds of 10/11 available on a +6.5 handicap that pays out if Musetti’s game total is within six or fewer of Djokovic’s.

The Panel Tip: Lorenzo Musetti +6.5 Game Handicap Vs Novak Djokovic – 10/11 BetMGM
