Bally’s Latest Delaware Casino Returns to Around-The-Clock Operations
These are heady times for the gaming industry in Delaware, led by the news the state eclipsed $5 million in total net iGaming revenue in June. That’s the first time the state has gone over that mark.
Now, to follow up on that progress, two land-based casinos in Delaware have returned to 24-hour operations, the first time since the early days of Covid-19.
Harrington Raceway & Casino Still Not Fully Open
Bally’s Dover Casino & Resort announced this month that its slots machines, table games, and sportsbooks are going back to around-the-clock operations. And they’ve hired 140 new people to handle the expanded hours.
Delaware Park Casino announced last January that they were re-opening 24 hours.
Harrington Raceway & Casino, the third land-based casino in the state, is open 8 a.m. to 4 a.m. Monday through Friday and is open 24 hours over the weekend.
iGaming Industry Growing as Well
There are studies out there that tie the performance of iGaming with land-based casinos. In April, economic consulting firm Analysis Group in Boston released a study looking at the impact on online and mobile gambling and found that iGaming is complementary to land-based casino gambling, even increasing demand for land-based gaming options.
Delaware Lottery announced in January they were partnering with Rush Street Interactive to launch its first online sportsbook along with a menu of Delaware online casino games in the state, under RSI’s BetRivers platform (Bally’s Dover has its own standalone app, while players can access Delaware Park and Harrington sites through RSI’s BetRivers platform).
There’s no other operator overseeing iGaming in Delaware. Delaware has seen steady growth with iGaming. January’s total net gaming revenue was $3.4 million. In July 2023, the first month of the 2024 Fiscal Year, total net gaming revenue was just under $1.2 million.
