New Betting Sites in Arizona

Arizona sports betting is in an interesting place. According to reports, Arizona sportsbooks FanDuel, DraftKings, Caesars, and BetMGM control more than 90% of the sports betting market, so some operators have left the state, including Unibet, WynnBET, and SaharaBets.

This has allowed Arizona to open up more licenses. bet365 and Fanatics were two of the earliest recipients of these new licenses. On Aug. 2, the Arizona Department of Gaming announced that Sporttrade was awarded one of the available licenses. It's now accepting bets in the Grand Canyon State.

New Betting Sites in Illinois

On June 3, 2024, the board passed a bill increasing the state’s tax rates on betting with Illinois sportsbooks. This comes after the state saw a handle of $1.26 billion in March of this year. It goes without saying, but there was strong opposition to the tax increase.

Nonetheless, it happened, and a new sportsbook, Fanatics, launched in the state, replacing PointsBet.

Fanatics Sportsbook purchased PointsBet USA in June 2023 and has slowly rebranded existing PointsBet sites to Fanatics.

In Illinois, Fanatics is partnered with Hawthorne Race Course.

New Betting Sites in Indiana

Fanatics Sportsbook joined Indiana in February 2024 and immediately captured more attention among Indiana sportsbooks users than PointsBet, the site that came before it.

From February through April, Fanatics had a higher handle and drew more revenue during those months than PointsBet did in that same amount of time the year prior.

Fanatics is partnered with Hollywood Casino Lawrenceburg.

New Betting Sites in Iowa

Partnered with Catfish Bend Casino, the newest addition among Iowa sportsbooks is—you guessed it—Fanatics Sportsbook.

With Fanatics coming to Iowa, the state can only hope that it’ll help inject some life into the sports betting landscape. The state’s sports betting handle fell to under $210 million in April, down 23% compared to March but is up 21.4% year-over-year.

New Betting Sites in Kansas

Like Iowa, Kansas sportsbooks saw a dip in sports betting handles from March to April. But with the state being prominent in college basketball, it’s to be expected.

In April, the Kansas Legislature amended its gambling law, which allowed the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska to offer sports betting on its reservation.

And again, the newest site is Fanatics Sportsbook, launching on March 28,  partnering with Kansas Crossing Casino.

New Betting Sites in Kentucky

A new sportsbook, Circa, came to town in May 2024. It’s partnered with Cumberland Run, which is also partnered with DraftKings Sportsbook.

To play at Circa Sportsbook on your mobile device in Kentucky, you need a state-specific app. So, when you’re searching for the betting app, make sure it lists Kentucky in its title.

Overall, Circa Sportsbook is fairly straightforward. It’s a well-known brand in the sports betting landscape, but it doesn’t offer a welcome bonus, which is unusual among Kentucky sportsbooks

After 18 months of waiting, Massachusetts sportsbooks users can finally wager with Bally Bet.

Delayed from its originally planned June 2024 launch due to technical difficulties, Bally Bet Sportsbook launched in MA on Independence Day.

“We’re super excited to go live in Massachusetts, a state with such a rich sports history, a state where sports are part of the fabric of the community," Bally COO Brett Calapp says. "We can’t wait to participate in the entertainment, the fun, and the excitement of sports in your state.”

New Betting Sites in Vermont

Online sports betting went live in Vermont on January 11, 2024, prompting the launch of three online VT sportsbooks: DraftKings, Fanatics, and FanDuel.

Unlike other states, Vermont doesn’t require sites to have a land-based partner; instead, the Vermont Department of Liquor and Lottery is responsible for choosing which sites can launch.

New Betting Sites in Washington D.C.

With the approval of this year's budget came a boost for DC sportsbooks. Up to seven operators can launch to be used district-wide. Previously, FanDuel had an exclusive presence as the official provider for the DC Lottery and was only site that you could use anywhere in the District.

Now, BetMGM and Caesars Sportsbook are also available anywhere in Washington D.C. Previously, they were only available online within two blocks of their designated retail locations.

DraftKings is now live for new users, as well.

How We Rate & Review New Sports Betting Sites

Launch Date

Every site I cover here launched in a state in 2024, and new betting sites are launching all the time. Check back here for updates as other launches occur in the future.

Regulation

The sports betting landscape is constantly changing, but here at Gambling.com, we keep up with the latest laws and only recommend sports betting sites that have received a license to launch in the state.

State Betting Landscape

When I look at a new betting site that has just launched in a state, I examine what it offers that might appeal new players and what it does well in comparison to other sites in the state.

Map of United States

Welcome Bonuses

Welcome bonuses are vital to new betting sites to attract new players, so I always touch on them when providing an overview. Without a new player welcome bonus, there’s not a strong incentive for a new player to play there.

red and black glowing present

Mobile User Experience

The mobile app is one of the most important things I review. Most players will be betting from their phones, so the user experience on sports betting apps is vital to the overall experience. I also check to make sure that the app is compatible with both iOS and Android devices.

black smartphone with red lights

Odds

Odds can sometimes be hard to judge in terms of who’s better at offering what. The margins are so slim due to the competition, but I always recommend comparing all new betting sites in your state to shop odds effectively.

Features

New betting sites are always looking for ways to stand out from the competition, so I always look for new features that make a new sportsbook unique. For example, I like the ParlayHUB at FanDuel.

black smartphone with play button

Betting Markets

Extensive betting markets only add to the experience, as there are more potential ways for players to play. In my reviews, I also make sure to point out if a particular sportsbook has markets that most competitors don’t.

Payment Methods

I’ve found that most new betting sites offer the same methods, more or less, such as PayPal, Venmo, Apple Pay, debit cards, or ACH transfers, but if there’s ever a notable omission or addition, it’s certainly worth noting.

Why Sign Up for New Online Betting Sites

Qualify for New Sign-Up Bonuses

As a new player at a new online sportsbook, you’ll gain access to their introductory betting welcome bonuses, which can have hundreds or even thousands of dollars in bonus bet upside. This allows you to potentially generate more winnings.

1

Build Loyalty Perks

There are wildly different reward programs across the board, but if you choose to play at a new site, you can begin generating points or earning site credit to get perks and rewards.

Right now, Fanatics Sportsbook has the best program, in my opinion, offering FanCash. It’s straightforward in that you get a percentage of your wager back, and it can be used to make purchases at the Fanatics retailer or redeem sports betting bonus bets.

2

Shop for Best Odds

I mentioned it briefly above, but if you have an account at all of the new betting sites in your state, you can compare and contrast odds based on what you want to bet on to find the best value. This is known as odds shopping.

3

Responsible Gambling at New Betting Sites

It goes without saying, but responsible gambling is of the utmost importance to both me and Gambling.com. Thus, we strongly recommend that you only explore sites that have that same commitment and offer tools that can make responsible play more accessible.

These include limits on deposits, spending, session time, a cool-down period, a self-exclusionary period, and resources to local and national organizations that specialize in assisting with problematic gambling tendencies.
