Premier League Opening Weekend Betting Preview With Odds From Spreadex

It’s almost time for the new Premier League season to get underway and it promises to be full of excitement. Manchester City are favourites with betting sites to defend their crown, and several teams like Manchester United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea looking to either challenge them or at the very least secure Champions League football.

At the other end of the table, newly promoted sides like Luton Town and Sheffield Utd will look to establish themselves in the top flight and several teams in the mix of mid-table will be hopeful of becoming the next surprise package overachievers similar to Brighton and Brentford in 2022/23.

With a bumper set of fixtures to kick off the action on opening weekend, we preview some of the big matches that await, along with the latest fixed odds betting odds and spread betting prices from Spreadex Sports!

Prices are subject to fluctuations. Please note when spread betting, losses can exceed deposit.

Burnley Vs Manchester City, Friday 8pm, Sky Sports Main Event

The season curtain-raiser sees champions Manchester City travel to Turf Moor to face last season’s Championship winners Burnley – who are of course managed by former City captain Vincent Kompany.

The Clarets thoroughly dominated the second tier to win immediate promotion back to the top flight, but this will be a much different proposition and Kompany will be hopeful his side will show improvements from the 6-0 drubbing that City dealt them in the FA Cup in March.

For those expecting another goal-filled match, the Total Goal Minutes spread ahead of this one is 158 – 168. That FA Cup meeting saw a make-up of 329, meaning if the same occurred here and you bought at 168, you would win 161x your opening stake.

City talisman Erling Haaland, who scored 36 league goals last year, scored a hat-trick in that last match with Burnley and is available at 15/2 to score another here. He is also available among our PRICE BOOSTS to score anytime, was 40/85 – now 5/7!

On the Premier League odds, City are available on the spreads with a Goal Supremacy of 1.6 – 1.8, which translates to a fixed odds price of 3/10, with Burnley 9/1 to score a huge upset and the draw at 5/1.

Arsenal Vs Nottingham Forest, Saturday 12.30pm, TNT Sports 1

The early Saturday kick-off sees last season's runners up Arsenal host Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium and the Gunners will be buoyed by their Community Shield victory over City last weekend.

The head-to-head form between the sides makes for interesting reading with the last five matches seeing no draws but an impressive three wins for Forest compared to Arsenal’s two.

The last match was a 1-0 home win at the City Ground as Arsenal’s title chase faltered, although the last meeting at the Emirates saw a 5-0 blowout for the Londoners.

Incredibly, the other Arsenal victory in that five-match sequence was also a 5-0 at the Emirates – you can back the same score for a third consecutive time at 14/1 with football betting sites. Gabriel Martinelli scored early openers in both of those matches – can he do so again? The 1st Match Goal (Minute) spread is 28 – 31.

The match odds have Arsenal starting with a Supremacy of 2.05 – 2.25, which translates to 2/11 on the fixed odds. The draw is 13/2 with Forest at 14/1. Both teams to score can be backed at Evens, and the Total Match Goals spread is 3.4 – 3.6. Would you buy or sell?

Chelsea Vs Liverpool, Sunday 4.30pm, Sky Sports Main Event

The first big clash between potential title contenders – or at the very least top four chasers – sees Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea host Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Both sides will feel they underperformed last season, especially the home side, and will look to make a statement as early as match week one.

Incredibly, the last five meetings have seen draws between these sides, although two of those matches were cup ties with extra time. Not only that, but the last four matches all ended 0-0 after 90 minutes – could it happen for a fifth consecutive occasion? You can back a 0-0 draw at 10/1.

Spreadex are slightly favouring the away side in this one and the Supremacy spread stands at 0.05 – 0.25, which translates to Liverpool at 7/5, Chelsea at 19/10 and the Draw at 13/5 on the fixed odds.

The last meeting saw five yellow cards (which equates to 50 booking points), but none in the first half. Spreadex offer a range of Bookings spread betting markets, including Cross-Bookings, Goals x Bookings and Card Minutes! Will it be a feisty clash at the Bridge?

Manchester United Vs Wolves, Monday 8pm, Sky Sports Main Event

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side take on Wolves at Old Trafford in the Monday night kick-off, with the visitors appointing former Bournemouth man Gary O’Neil this week.

Several new faces, including Andre Onana and Mason Mount, will be hopeful of impacting a better start to the season than United had last year when they suffered a string of defeats including a 4-0 drubbing by Brentford.

But what are the odds with betting apps on the hosts securing a victory on Monday? Although the Red Devils’ home form was very strong last campaign, Wolves did win at this ground in the league in the 2021/22 season.

However, United won both fixtures last season and this included a 2-0 success at home – the same result can be backed here at 6/1.

On the spreads, United are favoured on the Supremacy at 1.55 – 1.75, which works out as 3/10 on the fixed odds with Wolves at 8/1 and the draw at 19/4. Total Goal Minutes are at 155 – 165, with 1st Man Utd Goal at 37 – 40. Would you buy or sell?
