The Masked Singer 2023: Who Is UFO?
The Masked Singer headed to outer space on Wednesday night's ninth episode of the season, as two characters were beamed out of the competition.
Last week's impressive winner Dandelion made a shocking early exit in the episode following the studio audience vote.
That was just the beginning of the surprises, as Dandelion whipped off her mask to be unveiled as singer and actress Alicia Witt, rather than one of last week's favorites, Vanessa Williams and Diana Ross.
Not only that, but judge Ken Jeong - known for making wild, often incorrect, predictions on the panel - guessed correctly that the Two Weeks Notice star was under the mask.
Following Dandelion's elimination, Lamp went up against UFO in the Battle Royale, and the former lost out.
She was unmasked as Sabrina The Teenage Witch actress Melissa Joan Hart, leaving UFO to fly into the quarterfinals - but who is under the mask?
With these hypothetical odds provided by industry sports betting experts, we've looked at which star could be unveiled as the character in a future episode.
Front Runner is Culpo
Olivia Culpo is currently the +150 favorite to be UFO after a number of the character's clues matched up to the model and actress' life.
At the beginning of UFO's clue package, a newscast said: "An unidentified flying object was spotted hovering over a runway in New England and moving west."
Fans were quick to point out that the runway relates to model Culpo, who hails from Rhode Island, and she is a fan of NFL team New England Patriots.
Culpo previously dated former Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola, and she is now engaged to San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.
This matches up to one of UFO's visual clues of San Fran's Golden Gate Bridge, and later in the episode, astronaut Mike Massimino delivered a space helmet with "Planet Wide" written under the visor.
UFO said: "I don’t like to brag, but I’m not just known in America, but the whole galaxy," and eagle-eyed viewers believe that could be a nod to Culpo winning the 61st Miss Universe title while representing the United States.
If that wasn't enough, the newscast mentioned a UFO skyrocketing into the stratosphere "alongside several sister ships," which might be a reference to Culpo starring alongside her siblings, Sophia and Aurora Culpo, in 2022 TLC show The Culpo Sisters.
Bundchen's UFO Touchdown?
Gisele Bundchen is also in the running to be UFO. The Brazilian model is the +250 second favorite to be under the mask, as a number of the clues also seem to have a close association with the star.
As well as Bundchen being a catwalk queen, she has five sisters, including her twin Patricia. She is known worldwide and has a strong connection to the New England Patriots.
The star's recent ex-husband Tom Brady was the quarterback for the Pats for 20 seasons, leading them to six Super Bowl championships.
But if the runway legend isn't under the mask, then it might be singer-songwriter and model Taylor Momsen, who is +400 to be UFO.
One of the parts of UFO's clue package was the phrase "GG! Time to sing," which could be a reference to Momsen's stint in CW teen drama series Gossip Girl as Jenny Humphrey.
Nicky Hilton isn't far behind Momsen in the betting at +450. She has a famous sister, Paris Hilton, and is known worldwide for her fashion designs.
Bledel's Outside Chance
But actress and model Alexis Bledel is also in the frame at +600. She is best known for portraying Rory Gilmore in the comedy-drama TV series Gilmore Girls, which could fit in with the GG clue, and the series was set in Connecticut, the southernmost state in the New England region of the northeastern United States, which might be a nod to the New England clue.
What's more, Bledel has the sister clue covered after she starred in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants film series.
While there are plenty of positive arguments about who UFO could be, Jeong may have already used all his luck up this season.
He has predicted model Kendall Jenner could be under the UFO mask, but the Kardashians star is a massive +2000 to be the character.
Jeong's fellow judge Jenny McCarthy has predicted Gigi Hadid (+800), while judge Robin Thicke went for supermodel Cindy Crawford's daughter Kaia Gerber (+1000).
California Roll Back As Favorite
While UFO progressed through to the quarterfinals, the character is yet to trouble the top of the market when it comes down to who might win the competition.
UFO is +350 third favorite to triumph, behind California Roll, who has returned to the top spot at +100, following Dandelion's shocking exit on this week's ninth episode.
Medusa remains the second favorite at +300, but she still has to go up against previous last-minute survivors Mantis and Gargoyle in a special redemption episode later in the season, in which one of the trio will re-join the competition and the other two will be eliminated.
Macaw is the +500 fourth favorite, while Mantis (+750) and Gargoyle (+850) look to have outside chances at best.
