Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup Odds

  1. The Oilers are 10.50 to win the Stanley Cup and 4.75 to win the Western Conference at BetMGM Sportsbook
  2. The Oilers are 12.50 to win the Stanley Cup and 6.00 to win the East at NorthStar Bets
  3. The Oilers are 11.00 to win the Stanley Cup at PointsBet Canada

We’re on the eve of the NHL’s off-season crazy time, with the draft coming up tonight in Nashville, followed by the beginning of free agency on July 1.

A Canadian team hasn’t won the Stanley Cup since 1993 (the Montreal Canadiens), an abomination that Canadian hockey fans want corrected.

Let’s take a look at what the Canadian teams need to do to turn the tide on that and bring a Cup back to Canadian soil. Here we look at what the sports betting are for the Edmonton Oilers.

The Edmonton Oilers Are One of the NHL's Best Teams

The Edmonton Oilers are right up there with the Maple Leafs as one of the favourites with many NHL sportsbooks, and it’s hard to argue when you are led by Connor McDavid, who captured his third Hart Trophy as league MVP earlier this week.

BetMGM has early NHL Futures and lists the Oilers at 10.50 to win the Cup next season, tied with the Leafs, behind only the Colorado Avalanche (9.00), and the next shortest odds behind the Avalanche at 4.75 to win the Western Conference. NorthStar Bets has the Oilers at 12.50 to win the Cup, 6.0 to win the West. PointsBet Canada has the Oilers at 11.00 to win the Cup, behind the Avalanche (9.00), and tied with the Leafs.

There isn’t much that should hold back the Oilers – as they focus on teams like the Vegas Golden Knights (the team that took them out in the playoffs, on their way to a Cup win) and the Avalanche.

Scoring is the Edmonton Oilers' Strength

With that offence, they will out-score most teams most nights. McDavid is elite, as is C Leon Draisaitl, but their real strength is the production they get from the support players – guys like LW Zach Hyman, C Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, LW Evander Kane. They’re all back for this upcoming season.

What will hold back the Oilers is their goaltending, more than anything else. G Jack Campbell, signed through 2026-27 at $5 million per season, was a big disappointment in his first season in Edmonton last year (21-9-4, 3.41GAA, yes, but a .888 save percentage). With that contract, they are stuck with Campbell. Young Stuart Skinner stepped in and took over for Campbell (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 save percentage) during the regular season, but his play slipped in the playoffs.

The Oilers had 256 goals against last season, the 16th worst in the league, and the second-worst total (after the Florida Panthers) of any playoff team.

They have holes to fill on defence, after Mattias Ekholm, Darnell Nurse and Cody Ceci. They’re also restricted from improving the roster by a lack of cap space – just over $5 million, according to CapFriendly.

But really, the Oilers don’t need to do much to strengthen their Stanley Cup betting odds, and they picked up a lot of playoff experience this past spring with their run through two rounds.

The best player in the world, McDavid, has a bunch of new individual hardware for his mantle, but he is even more motivated to lead his team to the next level now.
